MA in Counseling at EMU
Recipient of the 2016 Southern Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (SACES) Outstanding Master’s Program Award.
The MA in counseling program strives to achieve the highest standards of training for clinical mental health counselors emphasizing professionalism, counselor identity formation, reflective self-awareness and exploration of spirituality and values in a community environment.
EMU’s Master of Arts in Counseling program is accredited in Clinical Mental Health Counseling by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Students graduating with a CACREP-accredited degree can often more easily achieve state counseling licensure and experience greater ease of movement between state licensing boards. And students with CACREP-accredited counseling degrees are often considered exceptional candidates for doctoral programs.
